He's very intimidating, even when he is not holding a sword, which he usually is. (Does he ever put that down?) And he's going to ask me questions about things that are important to him, and I am not going to know what the right thing to say is.

Definitely 🥔. Trust me on that, my experience is extensive, almost as much as 👻s. But I don't think you should head for the 🌳🌳🌳 yet. For one thing I'm pretty sure Lan Zhan could still find you. But I also just won't harass him (about apologizing) since you've developed a weird spontaneous Lan Zhan fear I guess! Get well soon.

No, this is going to be my secret hiding place. There's a gnome that runs it, and gnomes are very good at hiding places. It's basically what they live for, I think.

Because I was part of a secret expedition to the Archives to uncover a cure to a rare but serious illness that was plaguing the country. I am practically a hero. Which is why I can't reveal such important secrets. You understand, right?

Gnomes are small humanoid creatures, but this one is exceptionally small. They're intelligent, secretive, and love making things. This one seemed particularly fond of mechanical inventions, and he wore a lot of metal bits on his clothing.

And I will, as soon as I have a handle on making things properly. I'd like to start with the Compass of Evil, that would be more useful now than ever! But that seems like a challenge if even I don't know what it should be picking up exactly, which is also the reason for making it. But even if I could just tune it to undead things, it would still be way better than what we have now. Which for most people is nothing. So yes, that sounds fair.

How do I know if it's really forbidden or if you're just forbidding it out of general meanspiritedness?

You're not allowed to tell me in one breath that I am being fair, and in another breath that I would do something out of meanspiritedness. Not even if your potential invention sounds incredibly cool. You have to pick one or the other. That's the rule.

If you tell me why you really want to know, then maybe I will tell you where it is.

I don't understand why I'd need to have more of a reason than just being told I'm not allowed to know, due to your great heroism and all. Why would I need an ulterior motive? How can I know if I need to know what's in it or not, if I don't know anything about it?
